Kim K Contour - The ideal of 'Beauty'

Woman all over the globe are striving for the Kim Kardashian look and it’s not a surprise when the whole Kardashian clan, who are already and internet sensation, and celebrities alike are walking the streets with their faces contoured to perfection. Yet how can the public be blamed when you search contour on YouTube and there are 485 videos uploaded in the last 7 hours, the question I’m asking is how long before this jaw dropping head turning contouring craziness becomes the norm, or has it already? And how damaging will this be for all generations when looking at the ideals or beauty?

It seems that the goal is for you’re before and after to contrast as much as your upper and lower check bone, changing yourself into an entirely new and ‘better’ you. Now don’t get me wrong I am not against make up and I own highlighters and contouring tools which I tend to use in my daily routine, however I am much more opposed to trying to enhance your face rather than entirely change it or conceal it, and half of these changes made by makeup aren’t even real! Contouring kits may be a confidence booster and a going out essential but they will not change the features on your face, and before and after pictures like the one below make you question what the public will allow themselves to believe in the search for perfection.

You open the YouTube browser and there’s millions of Picasso-esque stills of a pre blended contour guide for young girls to follow step by step, I can’t imagine the last time a natural glowing tutorial was searched for when browsing the world of YouTube yet a few years ago those would have been the videos that were trending around summer.

It just seems a shame to look at our generation of style icons and fashion gurus and to feel like everybody is morphing into one ideal of beauty rather than letting that individuality shine! If you carry on to strive to be a different you or even worse still someone entirely different then you are going to be constantly disappointed, because that one person you will never be able to get away from is yourself so how about we all just stop running and embrace the people we are? Flaws an all!..... Okay so maybe that would be too much too soon, but at least for now should we tone down our contouring, hideaway our highlighters and aim for a natural look that’s more you than it is makeup?
